Stories people fit into that genre tend to focus on adolescents, but sometimes younger children have to do more "growing up" that most folks do in their teens and twenties. :-)

I'm glad you liked Juno and An Education. And if you watch Fish Tank, Pariah, and Shine, I'd love to see what you think.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4455799919149349621.post-65808483281765596442012-10-17T11:31:16.314-07:002012-10-17T11:31:16.314-07:00Thanks, Brittani. :)Thanks, Brittani. :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4455799919149349621.post-54735974476371768132012-10-17T11:30:50.164-07:002012-10-17T11:30:50.164-07:00I haven't seen Dazed and Confused ... I always struggle to identify which ones qualify as 'Coming of Age' films and which ones don't and I haven't seen most of the movies in the list but those I have(Juno and An Education) are really great. Love them both. I really mean to check out Fish Tank, Pariah and Shine soon.SDGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09331736603243732602noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4455799919149349621.post-87155464987205035442012-10-15T14:29:30.044-07:002012-10-15T14:29:30.044-07:00Fantastic post! I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. I also thought Martin Compston was great in The Disappearance of Alice Creed -- I'll never forget that naked ninja move. :-D

Have you seen the other "coming of age" movies on the list?

I've only seen Logan Lerman in The Lightning Thief -- my kids and I thought it sucked. Not sure why, though, but I'm very similar to Jenny (apart from meeting a man like David, haha). Plus, every time I see that film, I always want to do lots of schoolwork.
